Bongoan: In a shocking incident reported from West Bengal, a mother-daughter duo was stripped and brutally thrashed by a group of women over allegations of extra-marital affair.

The horrible incident took place in Bongoan town of North 24 Parganas district. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media on Monday. 

The victim included a 20-year-old district-level kabbadi player. Her hair were also chopped by the accused, according to a report in Times of India.

The group of women also ransacked the house of the victim. The prime accused has been identified as Shrabanti Malik, who has now been arrested. Police are on the hunt for other accused.

Police said the attack on the duo was organised by Shrabanti who suspected that the girl’s mother was having an affair with her husband, who is an armyman.

Shrabanti was arrested by police based on the viral video. A complaint in this regard was lodged by woman’s kabaddi player daughter.

“I was preparing to go for my training institute when I heard my mother’s scream. When I went to another room, I saw of group of women beating her up. When I tried to intervene, they also thrashed me. We were dragged out of the house, stripped and our hair chopped off. No one came to help us,” the girl said. 

“We have arrested the main accused and produced her in court. We are also searching for other who were involved in the attack,” said Bangoan Sub-Dicisional Police Officer (DPO) Ashesh Bikram Dastidar.
