BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) – Five years from now, Illinois Wesleyan University will take center stage as national champions are crowned in a pair of sports.
Inspiration Field at Carol Willis Park will be the venue for the NCAA Division III Softball Championships, to be held in May of 2025, while in November of that year, IWU’s Shirk Center will play host to the Division III Women’s Volleyball Championships.
“The opportunity to represent the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), IWU, and the Bloomington-Normal community is something we take great pride in,” said Wesleyan Athletic Director Mike Wagner in a prepared statement.
“We have been so fortunate to host many different levels of NCAA Championship play and have always strived to create a first-class experience for the student-athletes and teams involved as they visit our campus and the greater Bloomington-Normal community,” Wagner added.
Bloomington will be the first midwestern city to host the softball championships since 2013.
“I am ecstatic for this tremendous opportunity to showcase our incredible facilities and beautiful campus,” said IWU Head Softball Head Coach Tiffany Prager.
Shirk Center hosted the volleyball championships twice before, in 2007 and 2008.
“We’re excited to have the event back for the first time since 2008 and show off our campus and community,” said Wesleyan Head Volleyball Coach Kim Nelson-Brown.
“We look forward to once again offering a first-class student-athlete experience and hope to compete in the championship in 2025,” she added.
